Biography
Dr. Kazuaki Takabe is a surgical oncologist and breast surgeon at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, where he serves as Clinical Chief of Breast Surgery, Breast Program Leader, and the Alfiero Foundation Endowed Chair in Breast Oncology. He is also a professor at the University at Buffalo. Trained in surgery in both Japan and at the University of California San Diego, with fellowship training in surgical oncology at Virginia Commonwealth University, he previously spent about a decade on the VCU faculty before joining Roswell Park. A physician-scientist as well as a clinician, he holds a PhD from Yokohama City University and completed postdoctoral research at the Salk Institute; his Roswell Park profile also notes laboratory research supported by NIH R01 and Susan G. Komen funding.
