Biography
Dr. Steven D. Schwaitzberg is a Buffalo surgeon and academic leader who serves as chair of surgery at the University at Buffalo, as well as director of surgical programs for Kaleida Health and Erie County Medical Center. His work focuses on minimally invasive, robotic, endocrine, and gastrointestinal surgery, and his background includes an MD from Baylor College of Medicine, a biology degree from Johns Hopkins, and prior senior faculty and clinical leadership roles at Harvard Medical School and Cambridge Health Alliance. He was later inducted into the American College of Surgeons Academy of Master Surgeon Educators, reflecting a career that has combined surgical practice with teaching, research, and innovation in areas such as simulation and robotic surgery.
