Biography
Dr. Kurt VonFricken is a Buffalo-based thoracic and general surgeon affiliated with ECMC. A distinguishing part of his background is his military service: an Army article identified him as a colonel and thoracic/general surgeon with the 865th Combat Support Hospital during team-based trauma simulation training at Mayo Clinic. He has also contributed to surgical education scholarship, including co-authoring a 2026 paper with the University at Buffalo Department of Surgery on training senior residents in cricothyroidotomy.
