Biography
Dr. John M. Canty Jr. is a UBMD cardiologist and physician-scientist affiliated with the Jacobs School of Medicine at the University at Buffalo, where he is a SUNY Distinguished Professor and Albert and Elizabeth Rekate Professor of Medicine. He earned his medical degree at UB, completed internal medicine residency at the University of Rochester, and returned to UB for fellowship training in cardiovascular disease. Canty also directs UB’s Center for Research in Cardiovascular Medicine, with longstanding work focused on ischemic heart disease and sudden cardiac death, and he previously served as chief of UB’s Division of Cardiovascular Medicine.
