Biography
Hector R. Nava, MD is a professor of surgery at the University at Buffalo’s Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and has long been affiliated with Roswell Park in Buffalo. He earned his medical degree from Universidad de Nuevo Leon in Monterrey, Mexico, and completed training at Buffalo General Hospital and Roswell Park. His academic work has centered on surgical oncology and upper GI disease, and Roswell Park credits him as the first physician to apply PHOTOFRIN-based photodynamic therapy to patients with high-grade Barrett’s esophagus.
