Dr. Robert J. Smolinski is a Buffalo orthopaedic and sports medicine physician who earned his medical degree at the University at Buffalo, completed his orthopaedic residency there, and went on to a sports medicine fellowship at the Cincinnati Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center, according to his University at Buffalo faculty profile. He is a clinical associate professor in UB’s Department of Orthopaedics and has served since 1991 as head team physician for the UB Bulls; he also previously led the University at Buffalo Sports Medicine Institute. In addition to his clinical and teaching work, he has contributed to sports medicine research, including published studies on knee pain diagnosis and orthopaedic sports injuries.
