Biography
James Sanders, MD, is a pediatric orthopaedic surgeon and academic leader. He became chair of orthopaedics at UNC in April 2019 after serving at the University of Rochester and Golisano Children’s Hospital as professor, director of pediatric surgical services, and chief of pediatric orthopaedics. In Rochester, UR Medicine highlighted his work in pediatric spine care, including early adoption of serial casting for infantile scoliosis and being among the first surgeons in the United States to implant a magnetic growing rod for children with severe scoliosis.
