Biography
Dr. John Improta is a board-certified psychiatrist with Erie County Medical Center and UBMD Psychiatry who serves as director of day-to-day operations for ECMC’s Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program, part of New York State’s largest CPEP. He is also an assistant professor of psychiatry at the University at Buffalo, where he completed his psychiatry residency after earning his MD from St. George’s University School of Medicine. A distinguishing part of his background is his sustained teaching role in Buffalo, recognized with UBMD’s Murray A. Morphy Mentor of the Year Award in 2024.
