Michael R. Privitera, MD

Michael R. Privitera, MD, MS, is a psychiatrist and Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester Medical Center, where he led the outpatient Psychiatric Consultation/Liaison Service and later served as medical director of the Medical Faculty and Clinician Wellness Program. He completed psychiatry training at the University of Michigan and the University of Rochester, and his work has focused in part on physician well-being and workplace safety. A distinguishing part of his career is his leadership on workplace violence in health care, including co-editing a book on the subject that received the 2012 Manfred S. Guttmacher Award.
