Charles S Berenson, MD

Charles S. Berenson, MD, is a Buffalo infectious disease physician and Professor of Medicine at the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, with clinical and teaching work centered at the VA Western New York Healthcare System. He completed fellowship training at Yale and an internal medicine residency at the University of Michigan, directed UB’s infectious diseases training programs from 2000 to 2023, and has researched macrophage biology, COPD-related respiratory illness, and microbiome restoration for recurrent C. difficile, including co-authoring a New England Journal of Medicine trial report on oral microbiome therapy.
