Biography
Robert L. Caldwell, MD, has a long Rochester surgical and teaching background. A University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry alumnus, he completed general surgery training at Strong Memorial Hospital and spent 33 years in private surgical practice at Highland Hospital, where he later recalled introducing laparoscopic cholecystectomy to the hospital in 1990 in a UR alumni reflection. He also served for 20 years as Surgery Clerkship Director and was listed by URMC as an Andrew W. Mellon fellow in Surgery from 2000 to 2003.
