Biography
Dr. Shehzad Merchant is a Buffalo infectious disease physician with UBMD and a clinical assistant professor at the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. He completed infectious disease fellowship training at Strong Memorial Hospital/University of Rochester after internal medicine training at UT Southwestern, and he is board certified in both internal medicine and infectious diseases. At Buffalo General Medical Center and Gates Vascular Institute, he also serves as director of the antimicrobial stewardship program, a leadership role focused on appropriate antibiotic use and reducing hospital-acquired infections.
