Roberto Hernandez-Alejandro, M.D., is a transplant and hepatobiliary surgeon at UR Medicine, where he serves as Chief of the Transplant Institute and Professor in the Department of Surgery. He joined the University of Rochester in 2016 after serving at Western University and London Health Sciences Centre in Ontario, where he directed liver transplantation and hepatobiliary surgery. His background includes transplant fellowships at the University of Calgary and Western University, additional living-donor liver transplant training in Toronto and Kyoto, and a clinical and research focus on liver transplantation, liver regeneration, and advanced liver cancer. His UR Medicine profile notes leadership in restarting live donor liver transplantation at URMC, developing a liver transplant program for unresectable colorectal liver metastases, and contributing more than 100 peer-reviewed publications in HPB surgery and liver transplantation.
