James Q. Schubmehl, M.D.

James Q. Schubmehl, MD, is a Rochester psychiatrist affiliated with UR Medicine. He earned his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine, completed an internal medicine internship at Case Western Reserve University, and finished his psychiatry residency at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center; he is board certified in psychiatry. At the University of Rochester Medical Center, he serves as a voluntary clinical professor and teaches residents as a psychotherapy supervisor, with a noted focus on the Davanloo approach to intensive short-term dynamic psychotherapy.
