Biography
Timothy Smilnak, MD, MPH, is a family physician with UR Medicine at Highland Family Medicine in Rochester and serves as an assistant professor in the University of Rochester Department of Family Medicine. He earned his MD and MPH at SUNY Upstate Medical University after undergraduate study at the University of Scranton and a year of Franciscan service in Syracuse. He then completed his family medicine training at the University of Rochester Medical Center, where he also served as chief resident.
His work spans both outpatient primary care and hospital-based care. Within the University of Rochester family medicine community, he has also been recognized for teaching, including the 2025 Lovejoy Preceptor Award selected by family medicine residents.
