A Buffalo native, she earned a B.A. in biology from Canisius College, attended Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed her family medicine residency at St. Margaret's Hospital through the University of Pittsburgh; the UPMC St. Margaret alumni page lists her in the program's class of 1998.
