Biography
Dr. Brian Mata is an orthopaedic surgeon with Lakeshore Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, affiliated with UPMC Chautauqua. He earned his medical degree at Duke University, completed his orthopaedic surgery residency there, and went on to a sports medicine fellowship at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital; he is board certified in orthopaedic surgery. In UPMC’s profile of his work, Dr. Mata notes that his background is in sports medicine and describes how mentorship in practice helped him grow into more complex knee replacement cases. During his Duke training, he also coauthored orthopaedic research on uncommon hand and wrist pathology.
