Peter L Elkin, M.D.

Peter L. Elkin, MD, is a UB Distinguished Professor and chair of biomedical informatics at the University at Buffalo’s Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, where he is also a professor of internal medicine. His UB faculty profile notes prior leadership at Mount Sinai, training in internal medicine at Lahey Clinic, and an NIH/NLM-sponsored medical informatics fellowship at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. He has published extensively in biomedical informatics, is a Master of the American College of Physicians and Fellow of the American College of Medical Informatics, and in 2026 was named editor-in-chief of the IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics.
