His professional background includes an MD from the University at Buffalo, graduate study in biology at Syracuse University, and undergraduate training in biomedical engineering and chemistry at Vanderbilt; ECVA also notes residency training through SUNY Buffalo/Ross Eye Institute and Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, plus a pre-residency fellowship studying retinal degenerative disease.
