Biography
Joseph A. Johnson, MD, is a University of Rochester surgeon affiliated with Highland Hospital who serves as division chief of Bariatric and GI Surgery and previously led Highland Hospital’s Department of Surgery from 2001 to 2022. He earned his medical degree from New York Medical College and completed his general surgery training at Strong Memorial Hospital and the University of Rochester. He has also coauthored peer-reviewed research on complications after laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass.
