He completed his internship and internal medicine residency at Mercy Hospital of Buffalo after earning his medical degree from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara and completing a Fifth Pathway year at Maimonides Medical Center/SUNY Downstate. A longtime physician in Western New York, he has served as a teaching attending with SUNY Buffalo/Mercy Hospital since 1989 and previously held board roles with Catholic Medical Partners' Independent Practitioners Association and Accountable Care Association.
