Elie Akl, MD, MPH, PhD, is an internist and clinical epidemiologist with Buffalo training ties, including an MPH and PhD from the University at Buffalo and recognition as a 2021 Distinguished Resident Alumnus of the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. He is a tenured professor of medicine and vice provost for research at the American University of Beirut, where he leads work in general internal medicine, geriatrics, evidence-based guidelines, and systematic reviews.
