He earned his medical degree at Coimbatore Medical College, completed internal medicine training at Providence Hospital and UPMC Mercy, and went on to a cardiovascular disease fellowship at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry; he is board certified in both internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. Earlier in his career, he also co-authored cardiovascular research while working with the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.
