Ronald M Epstein, M.D.

Ronald M. Epstein, M.D. is a Rochester physician and professor at the University of Rochester Medical Center, with faculty appointments in family medicine and palliative care. He is board certified in family medicine and hospice and palliative medicine, and his work has focused on communication in health care, patient-centered care, and mindful clinical practice.

Epstein graduated from Wesleyan University and Harvard Medical School, and has written extensively on how clinicians communicate with patients and families, especially in serious illness. He is also the author of Attending: Medicine, Mindfulness and Humanity, a book that reflects the same longstanding interests seen across his clinical, teaching, and research work.
