Epilepsy Association of Greater Rochester, Inc. began in Rochester as EAGR in 1977, founded by parents seeking better support for children and families affected by seizures. Its official history says EAGR provided epilepsy and seizure education, support services, Camp EAGR, and later expanded to Syracuse and Binghamton before becoming part of Empowering People’s Independence through the 2013 merger that formed Epilepsy-Pralid, Inc. EPI now provides care, education, training, advocacy, and support for people with developmental disabilities, epilepsy, and brain injury across more than 22 counties in Upstate New York.
